Community Mural to be auctioned off to benefit Josh Pack
On August 16th, the Ogden Valley community and Balloon Festival goers
came together to create a masterpiece! Wilkerson Fine Art and
Consulting came up with the idea to get the community to participate in
an artistic and expressive event.
A 4 ft by 8 ft mural was created and the attendees at the 14th Annual Ogden Valley Balloon festival were invited to “create” flowers using the tools of a painter, including a credit card, a spring and a soda bottle. The base of the mural was a mountain and meadow soon filled with community created flowers. Each ‘painter’ was allotted only ten seconds once the paint touched the mural. The top was a vivid blue sky soon dotted with hot air balloons painted by many of the Plein Air Artists involved in the 3rd Annual Ogden Valley Plein Air Competition and Silent Auction. Children of all ages enjoyed adding their special touch to the community mural and the event was a welcome addition to the weekend. “One of the really fun aspects of this project” says Kris Wilkerson of Wilkerson Fine Art, “was watching otherwise artistically intimidated adults go for it once they saw that a brush was not required.”

The Mural is currently on display at the Weber County Library in Huntsville and is being auctioned off via silent bid, with all proceeds going towards Josh Pack’s medical expenses. The Mural will be on display thru the end of October at the library, viewing hours are Monday – Thursday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Ogden Valley residents will remember that Josh Pack was injured on July 30th at Pineview Reservoir and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Bids will close on October 31st, 2008. Wilkerson Fine Art and Consulting will assist the highest bidder in hanging the piece as well as lighting consulting.
