Bill Barber is an award winning sculptor and painter of the Magic and History of the American West. His desire is to tell a story and put his subjects into mood, lighting, or places that move the spirit. His bronze sculptures are designed to have action or gesture that are natural and flowing.
Bill’s
belief to be an artist or writer is that you must know your subject.
His whole life has been a panorama of experiences he knew would give
him the experiences he insisted he would need in his future to give
truth to his art expressions.
Prospector,
Horse Wrangler, Cowboy, Sailor, Navigator touch a few of his
experiences. His abilities were a natural for motion pictures where his
art pulled him into such positions as Prop Master, Actor, Art Director,
Wrangler, and Award Winning Producer. Bill considers movie sets the
ultimate three-dimensional art and his work in film a great blessing
and learning experience.
Bill’s
awards have included 1st Place in painting and sculpture at various
invitational shows including Grand Champion Silver Spurs at the
Winnemucca Roundup Show and in 2002 took the Silver Snaffle Bit overall
award.
He may be found in the Harold and Peggy Samuels book “Contemporary Western Artist.”
Collectors
have been buying Bill’s work since 1970 and continue to do so as he
continues his creative work in paintings and bronze.
