Alison Benjamin is a new transplant to the valley, originally from the U.K. She arrived two years ago via Big Bear Lake, CA. From her earliest memories she fancied herself an artist like her father. As an adult this has manifested in the form of her painting, poetry and her design and manufacturing of jewelry. Her love for design, color and pattern is the genesis for her current work. She creates her art while caring for her husband and children in her Liberty kitchen. Alison strives to communicate her thoughts through her art and is inspired by her discipline of meditation

Ever since Alison was a young girl she knew that she wanted to be an
artist. “I loved to draw, paint and color, I doodled in every margin
and on every used envelope. I grew up an only child in the countryside
of England, and have a great affinity for nature and my rich
childhood. My father is an artist, working with oils and wood and I
still marvel at his work.
Her “inner artist,”
restlessly wandered through her mind for many years until 2000. At
which time she found herself sitting hour upon hour at her son’s
hospital bedside, he spent most of 2000 - 2002 at Loma Linda Children’s
Hospital. She went from knitting feverishly, to making jewelry and
goddess sun-catchers. “I love creating and sharing my creations with
others. Also at this time I was consciously following a spiritual path
– meditating, reading, taking classes and holding spiritual workshops.”
Ali says.
In 2003, Alison and her family moved to
the mountains of northern Utah. In this new setting, she turned
within.
It was as though my paintings had been running about in my
consciousness forever and I finally recognized them. They have been
lined up and flowing out ever since
As I have begun to experiment with my artistic nature, I am
becoming a joyful, softer, more available, independent, peaceful and
very grateful mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, women… Combining
spirituality with the exploration of my mental landscape, my art
manifests. I express patterns, shapes and movement with intense and
diverse color.
Artist and Mission Statement
Today my artist focus is on nature; my impressions of plants and landscapes
are untraditional yet easy to identify. I am inspired by the beauty, simplicity
and sacredness of nature and life, and hope my art portrays this. I find great
peace through creating and am able to live more consciously in the moment.
Combining spirituality with the exploration of my mental landscape, my art
manifests. I express patterns, design, shapes and movement with intense and
diverse color.
My hope in viewing my goddess art, you experience a love of self and others
- acceptance of one another – and appreciation of all things feminine. I believe
that each woman is a truly unique, multifaceted being, full of eternal potential – a
goddess!
